With Bank Transfer Day as a backdrop, credit unions in western South Dakota managed to gain some high level attention recently by becoming prime participants in the Bank on Rapid City venture that is designed to warn against predatory payday lending.

A new, free credit score service that resides behind the online banking logon has been launched by the $342 million NorthCountry FCU of South Burlington, Vt., and the $877 million A+ FCU in Austin, Texas.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau plans to test a shorter, more concise, credit card agreement with members of Pentagon FCU.

Despite an earlier indication from the NCUA that the regulator hoped to reach a decision about how best to dispose of the assets of conserved corporate Western Bridge in November, that month came and went with no announcements.
