The $5.2 billion Alaska USA Federal Credit Union said more than6,400 members already have signed up and begun using its new mobileremote deposit checking offering.

The add-on to the 460,000-member credit union's mobile bankingservice is from FIS, Alaska USA said, and allows members to use Android or Applesmartphones to make up to 10 deposits or $3,000 in deposits perday, with approval generally within one business day.

“With the app, members can make deposits whether they're two ortwo thousand miles from a branch. said Geoff Lundfelt, Alaska USA'sexecutive director, Retail Financial Services.

Alaska USA said the mobile RDC is the first from an Alaska-basedcredit union. The Anchorage-based credit union currently has64 branches in Alaska, Washington and California.
