The $537 million, 29,400-member Christian Community Credit Unionin San Dimas, Calif., said it has donated $10,000 to HurricaneSandy relief efforts through American Baptist Churches USA's “OneGreat Hour of Sharing” offering.

ChristianCommunity CU said the funds will go towards immediate disasterrelief and long-term reconstruction in the U.S. and in theCaribbean. Along with the donation, the credit union said, itsmembers now can donate credit and debit rewards points and thatevery 10,000 points donated will be met with a further $70 donationto the “One Great Hour of Sharing” offering.

“We are saddened by the loss of lives and property resultingfrom the superstorm. Our prayers go to the families and churchesgreatly affected by it,” said John Walling, president/CEO of Christian Community CreditUnion.

“Through our partnership with American Baptist Churches USA, weare able to support the work of local responders who provide help,hope, and comfort to the hurricane victims,” Walling said.

The credit union's “Cards that Give to Missions” credit anddebit card program donates a portion of its interchange income andto date has resulted in more than $2 million in donations tonational and international ministry projects, disaster reliefefforts, church planting, college and seminary scholarships, andother faith-based projects.
