NEW ORLEANS — Based on early contacts, CUNA Mutual Group Tuesday reported "no major losses" so far from Mississippi and Louisiana CUs as a result of Hurricane Gustav but suggested because of the storm's slow moving path there could be future flood damage to property of policyholders.
"The CUNA Mutual Credit Union protection claims staff is monitoring policyholders in the New Orleans area and those in southern Mississippi, and we are not expecting to see any major wind-related damage," said CMG in a report issued out of Madison.
Because of evacuation orders, dozens of Gulf Coast CUs in Louisiana and Texas remained closed with some reporting minor damage, officials said.
