WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Over 43 years of service could not go unnoticed.
Longtime Robins Federal Credit Union Board Member Harold Sawyer, who has served for over 43 years, recently received an award for his years of service and outstanding volunteer work to the credit union and the Central Georgia community.
In the 1960s, Sawyer was instrumental in helping Robins Federal reach the $1 million asset mark. In the 1970s, he was a proponent of locating the credit union's first office outside the gates of Robins Air Force Base. At the same time, Robins Federal was leading the way as one of the first credit unions in the country to operate an in-house, online, real-time computer system. In the 1980s, with Sawyer's leadership, Robins Federal began to offer ATMs and mortgage loans.

Technological advances at the FCU continued into the 1990s with debit cards and the credit union's Web site ( www.robinsfcu.org) was followed by a conversion to a community charter.
A believer in education, Sawyer has completed numerous volunteer achievement training programs, been active in governmental affairs and has received numerous awards, including the Edward E. Filene Award, the Roy F. Bergengren Award and the Friedrich W. Raiffesisen Award.
"Mr. Sawyer has played a vital role in the success of Robins Federal Credit Union. His hard work and dedication are to be commended," Robins Federal Credit Union President/CEO John Ruffin said.
