LINDEN, N.J. — Integrated Media Management and XP Systems are integrating a Check 21 solution and a core processing platform.

The integration allows users of the XP2 platform to scan checks at teller stations and automatically enter the data into the core platform, saving time and cutting down on errors, the companies said.

The system already is live at $1.6 billion Affinity Federal Credit Union of Basking Ridge, N.J., where the 20-branch CU said it expects to free up 6,500 hours a year in teller time previously spent in the back shop scanning checks to be sent to Members United Corporate CU.

"We wanted a total solution that would eliminate paper and allow our members to complete their transactions in the branch more quickly," said Roland Plante, assistant vice president of consulting services at Affinity. "We began working with IMM because of their experience with paperless technology, and it became evident that Check 21 at the teller station was the wave of the future.

The integration tools will be in Release 15 of XP2, the Fiserv core processing unit said, and will add teller item capture to a list of integrated products that currently includes all of the products in Linden-based IMM's flagship suite, TotaleWorks.

John Edwards, president of XP Systems in Moorpark, Calif., said. "We've been very successful with all of the other IMM products, and we expect that teller item capture will provide our credit union customers with all of the efficiencies and intangible benefits that electronic check processing offers."
