North Florida credit unions said Wednesday they are helping the U.S. Secret Service and police in Jacksonville crack down on an ATM fraud, which has run up$300,000 in CU losses over an 18-month period.
Congress shouldn't rush to restructure the way financial services are regulated and consider all options, including ending the NCUA's status as an independent agency, Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.) said at the NCUA symposium last week.
In a move to educate more lending professionals, the CUNA Lending Council said it has raised its scholarship budget to $125,000 for 2009 from $55,000 in 2008.
The NCUA would "maintain its authorities with regard to credit unions," according to a draft of the Obama administration's regulatory restructuring plan that is scheduled to be released later today.
