Boston Latin School seventh-grader Michael Gross Jr. won himself a cash prize and a trip to the statehouse as the winner of the annual Massachusetts Credit Union Leagues essay contest.

The June 30 event is the largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender celebration in Florida, the credit union said.

It was all good, clean, bright red and sticky fun for a good cause at the annual Gelatin Olympics.
