CO-OP Financial Services, the Rancho Cucamonga, Calf.-based payments CUSO, announced an enhancement to Springboard, its proprietary card servicing application, on Tuesday. Credit unions that utilize Springboard can now service a more extensive range of member card accounts from the app, including debit, credit and digital wallet, according to CO-OP.

Originally developed in 2007 by TMG, which CO-OP acquired in 2017, Springboard brings together credit and debit account servicing across multiple processing platforms, allowing credit union employees and CO-OP contact center agents to quickly answer inbound inquiries and assist members in real-time from a single screen. According to CO-OP, it is the only app of its kind available to credit unions.

"Payments are the path to primary financial relationships," CO-OP Chief Product Officer Bruce Dragt said in a prepared statement. "That means every moment, every touchpoint across the payments experience must be stellar. The need for exceptional experiences certainly extends to cardholder service, which is more critical than ever before given the rise of digital transactions. E-commerce is new for many members. As convenient as they are, transactions from embedded payments, order-ahead apps and buy-now buttons generate questions. Members want fast, clear answers and, where necessary, fast, clear remedies."

CO-OP said its vision for Springboard is for it to serve as a point of entry into the powerful payments technology ecosystem the CUSO has been building since 2016. Since acquiring Springboard in 2017, CO-OP has rebuilt the technology on a cloud-native architecture, which allows for quick changes to be made and new features to be added when necessary. In 2018, CO-OP rolled out a new edition of Springboard that included the addition of a security token.
