Philadelphia-based American Heritage Federal Credit Union's staff and members donated over 2,240 pounds of food to various charities this holiday season.
American Heritage ($1.79 billion in assets, 150,867 members) placed donation baskets at its 32 branches Oct. 3 to Nov. 17. The credit union held an additional food drive during its annual tree-lighting event Nov. 26, which drew more than 12,000 people and raised $1,800 for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Guests enjoyed the sounds of the Philadelphia Boys Choir and The Fife and Drums of the Old Barracks before Benjamin Franklin and Betsy Ross counted down the lighting of the more than 35,000 lights on the credit union's 40-foot Christmas tree. The tree lighting triggered the evening's grand finale, a spectacular fireworks show set to the music of the HBO series “John Adams.”
