This is a very sad story indeed. Elko is not exactly a hustlingand bustling community, there is more to this story.

I'm very sorry to hear of Nate's passing. He was a great CUadvocate, always willing to help others in sharing their CUstory.

In Memoriam: Robert Siravo Passes

I am so sorry to hear of Bob Siravo's passing. He was one of thewonderful CUSO leadership mentors I had during my early years inthe credit union industry. He was kind, understanding, supportiveand a true follower of the People Helping People philosophy ofcredit unions, whether those people were credit union members oremployees of other credit unions. It was an honor to have navigatedthe unchartered waters of CUSOland with Bob and our band of merrymisfits.

dodd-frank uspsExpand Dodd-Frank, Allow USPSto Offer Banking Services, Dems Say

Wasn't it just a year ago that the USPS wanted to stopdelivering mail on Saturdays because it couldn't handle its basicbusiness? How could it possibly expand into another business?

It is impossible to imagine a more misguided public policynarrative than this economy-killing Democratic Party policyplatform concerning the controversial and probably unconstitutionalDodd-Frank Act.

|

The nearly-criminal disruption of the credit unionrelationship-based business model by the irrational, CFPB-driven,“compliance-based,” interventionist, federal, regulatory,“we-know-better-than-you-do” bureaucratic model of law enforcementis closing down credit unions at a historic pace. This third-worldinspired corruption and disruption of personal liberty and freemarkets must be brought to an end.

How many of those pushing for this legislation have beensupported by CUNA? Think of this every time you hear a politicianstand up at a chapter meeting or conference and tell us how much he“loves” credit unions.

I hope that ban would apply to members of Congress and theirstaffs also. Why should elected public officials and their teamshave fewer restrictions than private sector and appointedleaders?
