CU Times announced Monday that Michelle A. Samaad was promoted to the position of managing editor. A 14-year senior staff reporter and Focus Report editor at CU Times, Samaad's areas of expertise include CUSOs, business services including member business lending, auto lending and retail investments. In her previous position, she was responsible for managing special section editorial content.
"Michelle is a strong and efficient editor. We're very happy to promote her based on her 10-year-plus track record with us," Publisher/Editor-in-Chief Sarah Snell Cooke said.
Samaad has been a reporter in the print and online business trade press for more than 15 years, covering the financial services and retail and merchandising industries.

"As a freelancer, reporter and Focus Report editor, I've seen the credit union industry evolve in many exciting and innovative ways over the past decade. In my new role, I look forward to continuing to be a part of the editorial eyes and ears of that transformation," she said.
Samaad will replace former CU Times Managing Editor Marc Rapport, who left to pursue an opportunity with Callahan & Associates.
"Marc is a genuinely kind and self-motivated individual. We wish him the best," Cooke said.
