Two congressmen with records of backing bills that would benefit credit unions have been added to the speaker lineup for the Congressional Caucus planned by NAFCU next month at the Mayflower Renaissance in Washington, D.C.
They are Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-Mo.) and Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.), both members of the House Financial Services Committee.
Sherman in February re-introduced a bill that would permit the NCUA to allow healthy and well-managed credit unions to accept supplemental forms of capital.

Luetkemeyer introduced a regulatory relief bill in April that would, among other things, raise the CFPB's mortgage servicing exemption from 5,000 loans serviced to 20,000, as well as ease ACH prohibited payment rules.
NAFCU said Thursday it also has added another House Financial Services Committee member – Rep. Robert Hurt (R-Va.) – to the speaker lineup, as well as Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.)
Already scheduled to speak are House Financial Services Committee members Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) – who joined Sherman in re-introducing the supplemental capital bill in February – and Ed Royce (R-Calif.) and Ways and Means member Rep. Adrian Smith (R-Neb.)
The lineup also includes Frederick Reynolds, deputy director of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, Fannie Mae President/CEO Timothy Mayopolous and NCUA Board Member Michael Fryzel, NAFCU said.
Political commentator and strategist Paul Begala is the scheduled keynote speaker.
