Two New York credit union professionals were recently named to the Credit Union House Hall of Leaders in recognition of their commitment and service to the credit union movement.
With nearly 35 years of leadership at Visions FCU, headquartered in Endicott, N.Y., President/CEO Frank Berrish has made a long term impact on the Southern Tier community, as well as the state and national credit union community.
Under his leadership, Visions FCU has grown from $25 million in assets to over $3 billion. Berrish also provided Leadership and support for Universal Sharing Network, having served as a board member since the organization's inception in 1993 to 2008 and as its board chairman from 1993 to 1998.

At the national level, Berrish served on the Federal Reserve Board of Governor's Thrift Institution Advisory Council (2005-2007), was a member of CUNA's Payments Policy Subcommittee (2007-2012) and currently serves on the board of NAFCU. Berrish was honored by the Credit Union Association of New York in 1990 and 2006, receiving its Outstanding Professional of the Year award.
Michael Connery, retired president/CEO of United Nations FCU, headquartered in Long Island City, N.Y., led the credit union to increase its membership from16,200 to 98,000 and grew its assets from $233 million to nearly $4 billion. During his tenure, the credit union was recognized as the first U.S. financial institution to offer microchip and PIN credit cards.
From 1995 to 2006, he was a board member of Empire Corporate FCU/Members United Corporate FCU. Connery provided leadership and guidance during this phase of the corporate's growth, including two years as its chairman.
Connery also served on the board of CUC Mortgage Corp. and from 2002-2004 was a member of CUNA's international legislative, regulatory and operations subcommittee. He was inducted in the CUES Hall of Fame in 2010.
