New Jersey credit unions couldn’t ask for better placement for the New Jersey Credit Union League’s “Banking You Can Trust” ad at a local train station.

In what was a complete coincidence, the NJCUL’s awareness ad was next to a billboard for the biography on legendary tech icon Steve Jobs, who challenged consumers to think differently about technology.

“If you think back just 10 years ago Apple was nothing more than a niche computer player that was favored mostly by creative professions like publishing. Fast forward to today and Apple dominates smart phones, tablets, and online music,” said Paul Gentile, president/CEO NJCUL of the fortuitous placement.

“We’re challenging consumers to think differently about their financial lives and to wake up to the power of credit unions," Gentile said. "Hopefully we will look back 10 years from now and remember this as the time that credit unions start to go mainstream for consumer financial services. As consumers grow weary of big bank fees and practices, the time has never been better for credit unions to tell their story to consumers.”
