The First State is the venue of the first new credit union chartered by the NCUA this year.
The agency announced that it has approved the charter of Stepping Stones FCU in Wilmington, Del.
“As Stepping Stones Federal Credit Union grows from this new foundation, NCUA's Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives will offer assistance to help it prosper. It isn't every day we see a new credit union chartered. I congratulate those who made this happen,'' NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz said in a statement.
Stepping Stones is sponsored by the Delaware Community Reinvestment Action Council Inc. in Wilmington and is designated a “low-income” credit union.
It will offer service to the approximately 72,700 people who live, work, worship, volunteer, attend school or transact business in the city of Wilmington.
