Listerhill Credit Union has announced the death of longtime Board Chairman Cyril B. Mann.

Mann, who passed away last month  at the age of 95, served the Sheffield, Ala.-based credit union for 57 years and was recognized by the World Council of Credit Unions as the longest-serving board chairman.

A part of the credit union from its early days in 1953 as board president, Mann is credited with helping Listerhill CU grow from a small office within Reynolds Metals Co. into the eighth-largest credit union in Alabama, with more than 69,000 members, $500 million in assets and 17 branches.

Throughout his 57 years of leadership, Mann missed only one annual meeting. He even attended Listerhill's 1999 annual meeting at age 82, exactly three weeks after undergoing open-heart surgery.

Joyce Bates, vice president at Listerhill CU said Mann "was selfless. He put Listerhill first."
