Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe, who once wrestled a 300 pound alligator to get a $15,000 from the Seminole Indian tribe, will be the keynote speaker at NAFCU’s Congressional Caucus.

He wrestled the animal as part of his work raising money for President Carter’s unsuccessful reelection campaign in 1980.

McAuliffe, a successful businessman and former community bank executive, is a confidante of former President Clinton. McAuliffe chaired the DNC from 2001 to 2005. In 2009 he unsuccessfully sought the Democratic nomination for governor of Virginia. The caucus is scheduled to take place at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C from September 18-21.
