He wrestled the animal as part of his work raising money forPresident Carter’s unsuccessful reelection campaign in 1980.

McAuliffe, a successful businessman and former community bankexecutive, is a confidante of former President Clinton. McAuliffechaired the DNC from 2001 to 2005. In 2009 he unsuccessfully soughtthe Democratic nomination for governor of Virginia. The caucus isscheduled to take place at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel inWashington, D.C from September 18-21.
