CUNA Mutual Group will present the first of its 2011 Credit Union Protection Webinar Series today on the topic of "Dealing with a Data Breach."

The free, 60- to 75-minute sessions are for CUNA Mutual Credit Union Bond policyholders and individual session times are on the webinar registration page that the company's password-protected Credit Union Protection Response Center maintains at cunamutual.com.

The series was developed to help credit union staff and boards reduce risk exposures. Topics for this year were selected from exposures that saw a resurgence in 2010, including wire transfer and lender liability claims, said Brad Mundine, regional manager of credit union protection risk management at CUNA Mutual in Madison, Wis.

CUNA Mutual said the webinars are a value-added benefit to policyholders, which include more than 90% of U.S. credit unions. The company said more than 6,100 registrants from 1,477 credit unions signed up for last year's sessions.

Other topics planned for 2011 include ATM and ACH fraud, disaster preparedness, insider threats and employment practices liability, as well as "open mic" sessions.
