More than 50 Wisconsin and Illinois credit unions were represented at a recent meeting on risk management that CUNA Mutual held at its headquarters in Madison, Wis.

The Sept. 30 gathering focused on best practices in fraud and robbery prevention and included CUNA Mutual experts on identifying and managing risk, and some advice from local law enforcement.

Speakers included Julie Walser, manager of loss prevention at $1.2 billion UW Credit Union, who discussed her credit union's efforts to increase employee awareness of deposit fraud and to control credit card fraud, and Frank Chandler of the Madison Police Department, who discussed the "No Hats, No Hoods, No Sunglasses" policy, surveillance and post-robbery tips.

Brad Jobe, information technology director at CUNA Mutual, discussed system intrusion prevention and Ann Davidson, CUNA Mutual risk manager, talked about the primary fraud threats credit unions now face.

The session was a complimentary offering to CUNA Mutual Bond policyholders.
