KCT Credit Union is warning its members about fraudulent, recorded phone calls requesting account information and said it has opened a case at its hometown Elgin, Ill., police department.
The message falsely claims to be from the $148 million credit union and directs recipients to call another number, where they're asked to provide personal account information.
"We see a number of attempts like this each year throughout the financial services industry and elsewhere," said Kristine Kowalski, the institution's vice president of marketing. "This particular attempt is using KCT Credit Union's name when contacting our members and non-members within the community."

She said anyone who provided account information should contact his or her financial institution immediately.
