The $950 million Elevations Credit Union of Boulder wasted no time this week, remaking its web site, joining in fund-raising and pitching in to help relief workers and victims of the devastating wildfire west of the city.
The city's largest CU headlined its opening online spread with, "Helping When it Matters Most" and detailed how members can contribute donations and assist the relief effort.
Separately, the CU's foundation pledged to match donations dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000 as it coordinates relief efforts through the Boulder Office of Emergency Management, a local agency coordinating activities.

By mid-day Wednesday, the fires burning in foothills just west of the downtown have consumed more than 7,100 acres, destroyed nearly 100 homes, and caused the evacuation of hundreds. Eight people were reported missing.
"Your donation will directly support the relief efforts and you will receive a letter from Elevations Foundation at the end of the year for tax deduction purposes," said the website. "Elevations Credit Union membership is not required to make a donation and donations will be accepted through September 30, 2010."
An Elevations spokesman said CU staffers at its nine branches would be on call to help in the relief effort aiding firefighters and emergency management personnel fighting the Fourmile Canyon fire, as it is known. Elevations has 84,000 members.
