This summer some 72 US Federal Credit Union staffers were able to slip into something smaller thanks to the 92-Day Challenge.
Sponsored and organized by the USFCU Safety and Wellness Committee, the spring competition challenged participants to lose weight and develop healthier habits.

outstanding dedication, teamwork, drive for personal success shown by all participants,"
said Lori Cosgrove, USFCU senior human resources generalist and challenge coordinator.
Participants were split into teams of four, including a captain, and teammates served as a support system while struggling together to achieve their goals. Each week, individual's total percentage of weight loss was submitted to team captains, and team averages were submitted to the committee. In addition, over the 92 days, weekly meetings were also held to provide updates of teams' weight-loss, as well as to share success stories, struggles and healthy living tips including articles and recipes.
Overall, participants had an average cumulative weight loss of 6.1%, representing over a loss of 718 lbs.
In addition to bragging rights and a smaller waistline, the three teams with the highest percentage of cumulative team weight-loss, which was calculated as a team average at the end of the 92 days, were rewarded with cash prizes.
Although the 92-day challenge has officially ended, Cosgrove said it was so well received that another challenge has been launched to support employees' efforts to maintain or meet their personal weight loss goals. The Wellness Challenge is designed to promote a more active lifestyle and some employees have even formed daily walking groups.
