The popularity of the World Champion New York Yankees helped the Credit Union Association of New York raise $9,750 for its Credit Union Political Action Committee.
The association's silent auction, which was held as part of its annual meeting, raised $300 more than last year. The single biggest item was a pair of tickets behind home plate to a game at Yankee Stadium, which sold for $400.
The proceeds will be used to help the PAC make contributions to candidates for the New York State Legislature and for statewide candidates.

In keeping with the baseball theme, the event was held at the Otesaga Resort Hotel in Cooperstown, N.Y., the home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
The PAC also raised $2,500 through the sale of baseballs autographed by Johnny Bench, a former catcher for the Cincinnati Reds and a member of the Hall of Fame.
