The latest upgrade of CU*Answers' core processing system includes a software tool designed to help separate men and women.

Named the Gender Generator, the new tool will help credit unions that use the CUSO's relationship analysis and other data mining "Know Your Member" solutions, the company said.

The Gender Generator-part of Version 10 of the CU*Base core processing system-compares a list of more than 11,000 names with a membership database and with an estimated 75% accuracy or better decides the gender of those with a "gender-ambiguous name such as Chris or Pat," the Grand Rapids, Mich., CUSO said.

CU*Answers said it also is soon migrating to a new generation of IBM servers. The POWER6i550 expands the upgrade path of its decade-old i5 processors by more than 15 times, the company said, providing the "ability to handle virtually unlimited growth potential."

May 23 has been set as the online date, the company said. CU*Answers provides core processing and other services to approximately 165 credit unions.
