Picatinny Federal Credit Union, Mount Olive Twp., N.J., announced that Justin Hendrickson is the branch sales manager of its newest office in Mount Olive. Hendrickson worked in banking in Minnesota for eight years before moving to New Jersey last winter. He has held positions ranging from teller to vice president. Prior to banking, Hendrickson was in television production as a professional voice artist and was an assistant director for a Minneapolis news station.
SEFCU, Albany, N.Y., announced the hiring of Kathy Hall as the director of business to business relations. Hall brings more than 15 years of experience to her position at SEFCU, having most recently worked as director of sales at Members Health Network. She also worked as a senior business consultant of national accounts at Members United Corporate Federal Credit Union.
SOUTH
Insight Financial Credit Union, Orlando, Fla., announced the retirement of Janet Parish, human resources director. Parish started at the credit union in 1983 as a member service representative. She also served as administrative assistant to the CEO before settling into her role as human resources director.
BrightStar Credit Union, Sunrise, Fla., announced the naming of Vanessa Gregory as vice president of human resources. Gregory received bachelor's degrees in business management and human resources management from Franklin University and an MBA from the University of Dayton. Previously, she was executive director of human resources for Columbus City Schools in Ohio. Gregory has over 13 years of experience as a senior human resources professional. In addition, CPA Kevin L. Cronin was named to the board of directors. Cronin holds bachelor's in business administration and master's in accountancy from Stetson University. He is the treasurer of Woodbridge Holdings Corp. During his career, Cronin worked in public accounting and was employed by one of the nation's largest publicly traded homebuilders and financial service companies as assistant treasurer.
Federal Credit Union, Warner Robins, Ga., announced the promotion of Amanda McKleroy to card services manager. Formerly the assistant card services manager, McKleroy has been with the credit union for over 19 years, nine of those spent in the card services department.
MIDWEST
Heritage Federal Credit Union, Newburgh, Ind., announced the promotion of Carla Wersich to manager of electronic services. Wersich previously held the position of information service supervisor for the credit union's information service center. In her new position she will be responsible for managing Visa credit and debit cards, ATMs, ACHs, as well as online banking and bill-pay services.
Baxter Credit Union, Vernon Hills, Ill., announced that the new position of senior vice president of financial products and strategies has been filled by Thomas Moore. Moore is a chartered financial analyst, holds his Series 7, 24, and 63, and is a graduate of Indiana University. Most recently he served as president/CEO of Balance Sheet Solutions. Moore held this position concurrently with his role as executive vice president at Members United Corporate FCU.
New Horizon Federal Credit Union, Barberton, Ohio, announced that Mike Lesko is its first SEG liaison. Lesko comes with an extensive background in service and sales. In this position he will be reconnecting with the current SEG's while marketing and selling the credit union to potential new SEG's.
Educational Community Credit Union, Kalamazoo, Mich., announced the promotion of Kim Thompson from senior information technology administrator to information technology manager. Thompson is a graduate of Davenport University and has worked for the credit union since 2008. She previously served as vice president-IT/mortgage information systems at IndyMac Federal Bank's home loan servicing division and as a product support manager, senior compliance analyst, special loans supervisor and cashiering supervisor for First of America Bank.
WEST
Redwood Credit Union, Santa Rosa, Calif., announced that Martina Valentine has been selected as their new senior vice president of risk management. Valentine has been with the credit union since 2005, serving most recently as assistant vice president of mortgage lending services and loss mitigation. She has more than 18 years of financial services experience, including strategic planning, operations and development, with a focus in the mortgage lending industry.
Mountain America Credit Union, Salt Lake City, announced the naming of Lisa Livingston as manager of its 104th south branch in South Jordan, Utah. Livingston previously was the assistant manager at their Holladay branch and has nine years of financial industry experience.
SAC Federal Credit Union, Bellevue, Neb., announced the addition of Amy Thomas as senior vice president of human resources and marketing. Prior to joining the credit union, she was with the Ralston Public Schools. Thomas has held management positions at Farm Credit Services of America, Sogeti USA, Sitel, and First Data Corp.
VENDOR
Geezeo, Hartford, Conn., announced that financial services technology veteran Michael Nicastro became a member of its board of advisers. Nicastro holds more than 25 years of industry experience providing technology to community financial institutions. He retired last year from his role as the senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Open Solutions. Nicastro currently heads the Central Connecticut/Greater Bristol Chambers of Commerce in Bristol, Conn. He also serves on the board of directors of New Haven, Conn.-based Continuity Engine.
NewOak Capital, New York, announced the appointment of William Denton as managing director, head of client development. He will be responsible for coordinating all client development efforts for advisory and capital markets areas of the firm. Denton has over twenty eight years of global corporate and investment banking experience at leading U.S. and European banks. Prior to being hired at NewOak Capital, he held positions as managing director at Credit Agricole, head of the financial institutions group at Calyon Securities Inc. and was a member of the executive committee of Calyon Americas in New York. Previously Denton also had a 20-year career at JP Morgan Chase.
NORTH
GFA Federal Credit Union, Gardner, Mass., announced the retirement of Charles Langlois from its board of directors. He had served as a director since 1975 and upon his retirement became director emeritus. Since 1989, he has also served on the board of directors for GFA Financial Group. Langlois has served on various board committees and previously as board chair. As a director of GFA Financial Group he also served as board clerk.
Affinity Federal Credit Union, Basking Ridge, N.J., appointed Ledyard H. Smith to assistant vice president of internal audit. An author and speaker, Smith is also a graduate of Villanova University. Prior to the credit union, he served as director of internal audit services at Withum Smith & Brown. Smith was also employed at Amper, Politziner & Mattia LLC as director of internal audit and has held several positions at Accume Partners, the National Bank of Canada and Carteret Savings Bank.
Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, Groton, Conn., announced that John J. Dolan of Salem, Conn., has been named vice president/chief lending officer. Dolan is a graduate of the National School of Banking and has more than 20 years of commercial lending experience. He formerly held the position of vice president/chief lending officer for Dime Savings Bank and other commercial lending positions at Liberty, Fleet and Shawmut banks.
State Employees Credit Union Linthicum, Md., appointed Michael Gordy as chief administration officer. Gordy previously held the position of senior vice president of lending for the credit union. In his new role, he will not only lead the lending division but also information technology.
HarborOne Credit Union, Brockton, Mass., announced the naming of Maryann Lane as assistant vice president of operations. Lane is a graduate of the CUNA Management School and has been with the credit union for 14 years. During this time she was held several positions within the organization including teller, payroll processor, payroll supervisor, NOW department supervisor and payment services officer.
SOUTH
Mutual Savings Credit Union, Birmingham, Ala., announced the addition of Melissa Riley as branch manager of their location in Pelham. Riley's career in the financial industry includes member service, payroll and branch manager experience. The branch features service center capabilities for members of other credit unions.
MIDWEST
Mazuma Credit Union, Kansas City, Mo., announced that Brandon Michaels has joined its team as vice president-finance/chief financial officer. Michaels brings to the credit union a wealth of experience, most recently from San Francisco Fire Credit Union where he was vice president/chief financial officer. Michaels has over 14 years in the credit union industry.
Minnesota Credit Union Foundation, St. Paul, Minn., appointed Dave Larson of Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union and Pat Brekken of Richfield/Bloomington Credit Union to one-year terms on the foundation's board of directors. Larson is senior vice president of APFCU, where he has worked for nearly eight years. He also serves as the executive director of the Affinity Plus Foundation. Brekken is RBCU's president, a position he has held for the past five years of his 13-year career with the credit union. He also serves as a director of the Richfield Spartan Foundation. In 2008, Brekken served as chair of the MnCUF's Homes for Our Troops Fundraising Committee.
Iowa Credit Union League, Des Moines, Iowa, announced the swearing in of 12 Iowa credit union representatives to the board of directors. By serving on the board, each individual represents the interests of Iowa's 138 credit unions and their nearly one million members. The board members were John Bentler, Janine Keim, Dennis Choate, Joe Gonzalez, Tim Marcsisak, Michael Whittie, Tim Chapman, Brent Helin, Tim Wallen and Rick Benhart. Pat Drennen was sworn in as chair and Joe Hearn was sworn in as vice chair.
WEST
Elevations Credit Union, Boulder, Colo., named Ed Gross to the newly created position of vice president of enterprise-risk management. In his new role, he will be responsible for managing credit risk, interest rate risk, liquidity risk, transaction risk, compliance risk, strategic risk and reputation risk. Gross will also oversee the credit union's security function. He has been with the credit union since 2001 and previously served as vice president of internal audit where he led both the internal audit and compliance departments.
