The Senate Banking Committee is scheduled to discuss and possibly vote on the nomination of Deborah Matz as chairman of the NCUA next Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the panel held a confirmation hearing for Matz, and the two senators at the hearing both praised her. Sen. Tim Johnson (D-S.D.), who chaired the session, said he was looking forward to working with her.
If the committee approves her nomination it would be considered by the full Senate. That chamber is scheduled to start its summer recess on Aug. 7 and could vote before leaving town.
