Low and moderate income Hispanics who need help with their tax returns will receive free assistance thanks to a Network of Latino Credit Unions and Professionals and IRS alliance.
The two entities have teamed up to promote the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, which offers free tax return preparation and tax counseling at designated sites nationwide. During tax season, all NLCUP member credit unions will provide information, education and services in Spanish to the limited English proficiency communities regarding tax compliance, the group said.
The agreement also calls for NLCUP to assist with tax education and outreach on emerging or changing tax laws and issues through dissemination of IRS communication to NLCUP member executive staff, its offices and individual credit unions via newsletters, seminars, credit union staff training, internet mass communication, Web site and other forms of communication.
