WASHINGTON — The leaders of CUNA and NAFCU touted the virtues of credit unions in interviews in a range of print and broadcast venues recently.
Both CUNA President/CEO Dan Mica and NAFCU President/CEO Fred Becker were quoted in a three-page advertorial that ran in the Jan. 26 edition of The New York Times.
The advertorial, which included support from Credit Union Times, CUNA Mutual Group, WesCorp and the Co-Op Network, featured one large article "Rock-Solid Credit Unions Hunt for More Borrowers," and ads from different credit unions and related organizations.
"We are Main Street, not Wall Street. Credit unions are financial services' best-kept secret," Mica said.
Becker noted that credit unions have more money to lend because they "never made the kind of risky loans banks made."
Becker was also mentioned in articles in Politico and Washington Business Journal.
Mica has recently made appearances on Fox Business Channel and CNBC about the health of the industry.
