CHICAGO — Vancouver City Savings Credit Union has become the first credit union to use the Master Data Service platform from Initiate Systems Inc.

Canada's largest credit union will use three of the platform's solutions to help executive regulatory compliance programs, support marketing initiatives and enhance member service, the company and credit union said.

The solutions combine to give the $14 billion Vancity a single, comprehensive view of its membership across all its lines of business, they said.

“The data and the inter-relationships of that information remain consistent between systems and across our credit union's business lines and product offerings. We will unlock the value of our data assets,” said Tom Haksi, Vancity's chief information officer.

Vancity has 59 branches in Western Canada and about 400,000 members. The credit union also owns Citizens Bank of Canada, which serves members nationwide through the Internet, ATMs and by telephone.

Initiate Systems has six clients in the financial services sector and four in the insurance industry, the company said.
