FARMERS BRANCH, Texas. — Reminding CU leaders once again about the urgency of Hurricane Ike recovery, the Texas Credit Union League said Thursday it is pursuing a broad disaster aid program coupled with hiring a former associate of TV's Dr. Phil for CU counseling.
In an e-mail report sent this week to Texas CEOs and others, the league acknowledged that while the nation's economic crisis takes top priority, the need for relief help in Texas remains massive.
"Hurricane Ike could be the third-largest insured loss from a hurricane, behind only Hurricanes Katrina and Andrew according to Fitch Ratings," said the report, issued by Richard Grady, the league's vice president of marketing/public relations.
