NEW YORK — Lawyers for Visa, MasterCard and Discover are both preparing for the next credit card anti-trust trial and working to come up with a pre-trial settlement, according to card analysts and news outlets.
The trial, which is scheduled to begin October 14 in New York, is the latest to result from Visa and MasterCard policies which other court findings and settlements have determined to have been anti-competitive.
Analysts speaking in press reports suggest that a settlement may be likely and could bring Discover as much as $4 billion from the two other card brands. Visa and MasterCard already settled a case on a similar matter with American Express.
