WASHINGTON — Two noted credit union leaders and pioneers will share the National Credit Union Foundation's 2009's Herb Wegner Memorial Award for Individual Achievement.
Rita Haynes is the CEO of Faith Community Credit Union, a privately insured community development credit union headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. Tom Sargent is CEO of the $1.8 billion First Technology Credit Union in Beaverton, Ore.
This is only the 3rd time in 21 years that the NCUF has given a Wegner Award to two winners in a single category, the Foundation said.
“Rita and Tom's achievements are both extraordinary and unique,” related NCUF Awards & Recognition Committee Chairman and Wegner Awards Dinner Emcee Bob Schumacher, CEO of MountainCrest Credit Union in Arlington, Wash.
Schumacher praised Haynes for her guidance of Faith Community's work with lower income members and communities and Sargent for his pioneering work with Credit Unions For Kids.
