Royal Credit Union, Eau Claire, Wisc., announced that its employees raised over $700 for the Go Red for Women campaign. RCU employees wore jeans and a red shirt if they donated $7.00 to the cause. Go Red for Women is the national awareness campaign for the American Heart Association to educate about the risk for cardiovascular disease in women. Over 81% of RCU employees are women.

Western Division Federal Credit Union, Williamsville, N.Y., presented United Way of Buffalo and Erie County with a check for $2,000. Both staff and members contributed to the donation, which will be used specifically to help further financial education within the community. The funds were raised through candy sales and various employee competitions. Through candy sales at its Dunkirk branch Western Division FCU also donated $400 to the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County.

MidSouth Federal Credit Union, Macon, Ga., presented a donation to the Macon State College Foundation. The foundation is a private, nonprofit organization that was established to raise, invest, and distribute private dollars to fund programs, research, scholarships, and capital needs.
Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union, Los Angeles, donated $90,000 to the Los Angeles Police Department and its related organizations. The donation benefited over 61 LAPD-affiliated programs and events including, LAPD Historical Society's Annual Jack Webb Awards dinner, Los Angeles Police Protective League Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament, Los Angeles Police Foundation Medal of Valor Luncheon, LAPD Peer Counseling Program, and National Police Week. In addition, LAPFCU provides individual donations to officers and their families who are in need as a result of injuries, death, or health-related issues.

Pacific Service Credit Union, Fresno, Calif., is a key sponsor in the Fresno Fire Chiefs Foundation's "Helmets are Cool" program. The program places a supply of safety helmets on fire engines and trucks so when firefighters see a child riding a bicycle or skating without a helmet they can stop and give out a free helmet. The foundation also provides posters of local heroes wearing a helmet for every classroom in the city and trading cards for each child who receives a helmet.

American Heritage Federal Credit Union, Philadelphia, presented a $6,000 check to Philadelphia-area National Guard Family Readiness Groups. American Heritage FCUs "Adopt-A-Soldier" Program raised funds to support the citizen-soldiers and their families by selling "Adopt-A-Soldier" bracelets to members. American Heritage FCU gave $1,000 to each of the six Family Readiness Groups that attended a luncheon. Their spouses, sons, and daughters were deployed not only in Iraq but also in Egypt, the Sinai Peninsula, Kuwait, and Bosnia.

CFE Federal Credit Union, Lake Mary, Fla., donated over $7,000 to the NAFCU PAC by selling Florida college-themed PAC bears in all their branch locations during last falls college football season. The PAC bears were dressed to represent five Florida universities, Florida State University, University of Florida, University of Central Florida, University of Miami, and Florida A&M. The bears included five male bears with sweaters and two female bears dressed as cheerleaders that played the fight songs of UF and FSU.
