NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Eying the festival trade, the $1.3 billion Langley Federal Credit Union is ready to do some branding this spring with purchase of a high-tech mobile ATM branch.

"We have already booked our new ATM for the Gloucester Daffodil Festival with more events planned in April and May," said Brett Noll, Langley's senior vice president of marketing.

Since getting its new unit delivered last month from Courvette Inc. of Salem, Langley said, he can now transport the device into Gloucester for the March 29-30 show. As for mobile ATMs, the area has seen only Wells Fargo deploy the devices making Langley the first CU to experiment with their application.

Langley previously had an outdated mobile ATM which lacked some of the new stand-alone features, he said. "Depending on what you add on, these devices can run anywhere from $75,000 to $250,000 but we are on the inexpensive side," said Noll.

Langley's purchase follows a similar application last week by the $2.3 billion San Antonio FCU which deployed the device garnering what it said was valued public exposure and hefty transaction volume at the 18-day San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo at the downtown Freeman Coliseum.
