PORTLAND, Ore. — In line with the national push by state leagues to reduce program overlap and cut costs amidst dwindling CU numbers, the chair of the Credit Union Association of Oregon said today the trade group would entertain proposals for management agreements to help run the organization.
"We're going through a very good process right now to examine all the options," explained Shirley Cate, the CUAO chair and president/CEO of Providence Health System FCU.
Both the California and Washington State Credit Union Leagues, she said, may eventually wind up being interested parties in submitting management bids along the lines of other league-to-league pacts like California/Nevada and Colorado/Wyoming.

Any proposals from those leagues could arise as CUAO undertakes a search for a new president/CEO to replace its retiring president, Gene Poitras, who announced plans for his Nov, 30 retirement last month.
As recruitment ads are being placed, she said CUAO "has been in contact with other leagues like Oklahoma which has been going through a similar process," referring to the Oklahoma League's consideration of management agreements with other state leagues.
