DENVER — Westerra Credit Union is on a campaign this month to build its mortgage business and one of its major moves was exhibiting at the annual Realtor Rally which drew 3,500 realty executives from metropolitan Denver.

The realty conference, sponsored by the Metro District Realty Association, served as an "ideal locale for our credit union to get our message out that we recognize the important role realtors play in making purchase money available to our members," said John McCloy, chief lending officer.

The Westerra booth proved popular with realtors who had their photo taken on a Harley Davidson motorcycle wearing a leather jacket and accessories provided by Westerra.

McCloy noted that with its recent mergers Westerra is seeking to show its expansive "reach into many Colorado communities."

"Our branches are working on strategies to build closer relationships with realtors in their specific area," said McCloy noting that Westerra generated $75 million in loans last year with that pace continuing. Indeed, "in March we did $6 million," said McCloy.
