SAN ANTONIO — In celebration of National Credit Union Youth Week, April 22-28, teens under the age of 17 can enter to win a $500 reward at Security Service Federal Credit Union.

The credit union has kicked off a Youth Saving Challenge and Scavenger Hunt as an educational effort to encourage savings and promote learning. To earn a chance to win, teens must capture 10 money management photos during Youth Week.

Participants can log onto www.ssfcu.org after April 22 or stop by any SSFCU location during Youth Week for complete details on the savings challenge and scavenger hunt.

"This is a fun and easy way for youth to learn sound money management skills and a great opportunity to win some extra cash to put in their savings accounts," said John Worthington, senior vice president for SSFCU.

SSFCU has a long history of award-winning youth financial literacy programs. The credit union currently operates two high school student-run service centers and offers free in-classroom presentations at local schools on important financial topics like paying for college and budgeting. The credit union is currently working with local educators to help create a curriculum for Texas' newly-sanctioned teen financial literacy requirements for schools.
