TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Credit Union League is now offering to its members the managed security services of SecureWorks. FCUL is offering SecureWorks' services through its business services CUSO, FCUL Service Group. Atlanta-based SecureWorks lists more than 1,600 clients and provides a suite of services that includes vulnerability scanning, threat intelligence and encrypted e-mail, as well as security program development, compliance reporting, risk assessment and phishing site takedowns.

The company's existing credit union clients in Florida experienced 4,181,284 attack attempts in the first two months of 2007, compared to 2,111,281 in the first two months of 2006, says Mike Cote, SecureWorks president and CEO.

Overall, the company recorded 8 million more attacks on CUs than against its bank clients in the past year, as hackers continue to focus on smaller institutions.

"SecureWorks blocked more than 275 million hacker attacks against our nearly 500 credit union clients in 2006, which is why our partnership with the FCUL Service Group is so important," Cote says. "We want to educate all Florida credit unions on the severity of emerging threats and reassure them that they have a viable option for combating these threats."
