WATERBURY, Conn. — As school children were lining up to take buses home from Frisbie Elementary School in Wolcott, Waterbury CT Teachers Federal Credit Union's Vice President of Marketing Libby D'Orso was ready to begin the process of filming a new television commercial for the credit union.
D'Orso arrived at the school complete with staff from her advertising agency and production personnel, including camera, lighting and sound crews, production assistants, and a makeup artist, plus two professional actors, a school principal and eight teacher "extras."
D'Orso thought, what better way to promote the products and services of the credit union than to use actual members in the commercial? And the teachers were glad to oblige.

Frisbie's Principal Richard Dorval, who played a prominent role in the commercial said, "It was a long night, but it was very interesting to see how commercials are made. I never realized how technical and painstaking the filming process can be." He added, "The tow of Wolcott will be proud that one of our schools was chosen out of so many schools that were considered for this production."
Alena Cybart, a Journalism and English teacher at Kennedy High School in Waterbury, said the experience was fun and was surprised at the effort that went into making a commercial.
The TV commercial, entitled "Knowledge", is part of a multimedia campaign created by Lang/Durham Advertising of Farmington. Other materials included direct mail, collateral pieces and a flash presentation.
