MOSINEE, Wis. — Port Credit Union officially merged with Valley Communities Credit Union on Jan. 1.
The $27 million Port Credit Union brought its 5,800 members to the $67 million Valley Communities CU. Port CU members will now have access to a larger branch network in six central Wisconsin cities. With the additional membership, Valley Communities CU now has nearly 17,000 members. Two of Port CU's board members will join the larger credit union, increasing the board's size to 11.
According to David Jelmeland, Valley Communities president/CEO, Port CU approached the financial institution last August about a possible merger.
