WASHINGTON — As the New Year rings in a new Congress, NAFCU and its board members were on hand to attend a number of swearing-in ceremonies and other events for incoming members of Congress as well as old friends.
NAFCU planned to kick it off on the eve of the new Congress, Jan. 3, with a reception by the Blue Dogs–a group of fiscally conservative Democrats. After that, NAFCU was hosting a dinner for original Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act sponsor Congressman Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.) at the well-known Bobby Van's in D.C.
On the fourth, NAFCU had a long list of members to visit, including Speaker-elect Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Jim McCrery (R-La.), Senator-elect Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Financial Services Committee Ranking Member Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.), Congressman Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), and many others.
