RICHARDSON, Texas — Texans Credit Union has turned to Identity Fraud, Inc. to help its members in the fight against identity theft.
Offered free to members, the $1.7 billion credit union's checking accounts will now include Unlimited VRS Elite fraud resolution services, identity insurance, education and fraud prevention resources to better help members prevent and respond to the dangers of identity theft.
As part of the services, in addition to $5,000 insurance coverage to cover out-of-pocket expenses, members who become victims of identity theft are provided an advocate to help in the often lengthy process of clearing their name and creating a case file.

"It is a real value add for our members," said Texans Vice President of Product Development Chris Walton. "We also liked that members would have an advocate in dealing with the problems associated with identity theft. We view it as part of our social mission of coming to the aid of our members during difficult times."
Recent surveys by Javelin Strategy indicate that there were 8.9 million victims of identity theft last year.
