LATHAM, N.Y. — A handful of credit union leaders held a luncheon in honor of New York State Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno (R-Capital) to thank him for his support of credit unions.

New York State Credit Union League President/CEO William J. Mellin formally welcomed the senator and thanked him for his support on a couple of state legislative initiatives that became law. Bruno talked briefly about politics, the upcoming primaries and November's elections, as well as the role credit unions play in the community and for his constituents.

Following the Senator's remarks, everyone around the table introduced him or herself and talked briefly about their credit unions as well as the league initiative to permit credit unions to accept municipal deposits.

The informal gathering–which included Albany Firemen's FCU, Capital Communications FCU, Members United FCU, Mid-Hudson Valley FCU, Hudson River Community CU, SEFCU and Ulster FCU–took place at the Fort Orange Club, a political haven in downtown Albany.
