ARLINGTON, Va.-NAFCU wrote the Office of Management and Budget in favor of the Department of Defense's request for comment on an information collection request concerning commercial solicitations on military bases.

Last year, the DoD proposed amendments to its regulations concerning personal commercial solicitation on DoD installations. "Under current part 43, insurers are already required to submit various application certifications and disclosures," Becker wrote. "Such procedures are necessary to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and to prevent possible misleading practices. NAFCU believes in the importance of these procedures for the welfare and security of on-base personnel.

"NAFCU notes that while the information collection requirements of the proposed directive are more extensive than in the past, they represent a basic level of information necessary to ensure proper solicitation on military installations."
