HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Credit Union Association has joined the ranks of credit union associations and leagues that are encouraging members who get Social Security payments by check to switch to the Federal Reserve Banks' and U.S. Treasury's GoDirect and receive their monthly payments through direct deposit.

PCUA is promoting the program to members and telling them direct deposit eliminates the risk of lost or stolen checks, reduces fraud, and gives them more control over their money. In addition, direct deposit provides people with immediate access to their money.

Credit union tellers are also being encouraged to refer to GoDirect campaign support tools available on the program's Web site-www.GoDirect.org-including a teller training guide on how to approach members about direct deposit, and campaign materials and program ideas.

In addition, tellers can use the online enrollment form and dedicated toll-free number to help members sign up for direct deposit immediately.
