SALEM, Ore. – David Tatman, deputy administrator of the Oregon Division of Finance and Corporate Securities, has been promoted to the top job as the chief regulator of credit unions in the state. Tatman, 52 and a lawyer, has been deputy administrator since 2004, and has been with the division since 1988, except for one year when he was special assistant attorney general in the Oregon Department of Justice. As administrator of the division, Tatman replaces Floyd Lanter, who resigned Sept. 30, 2005. Tatman is a graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law and his appointment was announced by Cory Streisinger, director of the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services. In a statement, Tatman said his office would seek "to support a positive business climate in the state by creating a level playing field for industry." In addition, the agency will streamline regulatory processes "to be certain that they are effective but not excessive," he said.
