MIRAMAR, Fla. – Eastern Financial Florida Credit Union has made the holidays brighter for disadvantaged children from Broward County's Kids in Distress program. The credit union played Santa Claus for 50 youngsters by making their gift wishes come true. Eastern Financial's Team Council – a group of employee volunteers who organize ongoing fundraisers – put together an "Angel Tree" at the company's Miramar headquarters. The tree was adorned with tags that each contained a gift request from one of the children. Employees and credit union members were invited to remove a tag and fulfill the wish. All of the presents – including video games, clothes, bikes and other toys – were tucked under a Christmas tree in credit union's lobby until Tuesday, December 20, when they were picked up by truck and taken for distribution to the kids. Team Council members, led by CEO Stephen McGill and other company executives, took a break from work and helped load the "sleigh" on four wheels.
