SYLVANIA, Ohio – Toledo Area Community Credit Union has merged with Mansfield, Ohio-based Empire Affiliates Credit Union Inc. The move will add Empire Affiliates CU's 10 branches and will help TACCU grow to nearly 60,000 members and approximately $350 million in assets- making it the sixth largest credit union in the state. The combined credit union will be known as Toledo Area Community Credit Union with the former Empire branches operating as Empire Affiliates, a division of TACCU. TACCU CEO Patrick McGrady and President Barry Shaner will continue their respective roles and current Empire Affiliates CU President Leo Phillips will serve as a consultant until his retirement at the end of the year. The merger is expected to be finalized on October 1, 2005.
