ARLINGTON, Va. – The Credit Union Division of the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions has earned five-year re-accreditation by NASCUS. Indiana was first accredited in 1990 and earned five-year re-accreditation in 1995 and 2000. Accreditation is valid for a five-year period, subject to an annual review process that enables the accredited agency and the NASCUS Performance Standards Committee to measure progress and improvement, and in some cases, identify where weaknesses are beginning to develop. NASCUS accredited states supervise more than 80% of state-chartered credit union assets. The Credit Union Division of the Indiana DFI is responsible for the examination and supervision of the state's 49 state-chartered natural person credit unions. Assets under the supervision of the Division total more than $6 billion.
